Group therapy takes place in a nurturing and secure setting that allows you to share your problems, thoughts, feelings, and experiences with people who are dealing with similar issues. This exchange of information and ongoing support will help you face painful truths, achieve personal growth, and work on solving your problems.
Group members respect each other and work to build trust and genuine connection. This kind of environment makes it possible for them to successfully address a number of issues including the following:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Dissatisfaction with life
- Low self-esteem
- Relationship difficulties
Benefits of Group Therapy
Often times, we feel alone with our problems. We may feel like no one else truly understands what we are going through. One of the most important benefits of group therapy is that it brings people who are dealing with similar problems together. Understanding that we are not alone in our problems and that we may be able to help someone else can help us feel better. Other benefits of group therapy include the following:
- Receive feedback and encouragement from people with similar problems
- Learn healthier ways of coping with stressful situations
- Develop the ability to clearly express your feelings
- Learn how to communicate more effectively
- Receive emotional support
- Learn how to support others
Structure and Details
Groups consist of 6 to 10 members. They meet once per week on the same day and at the same time for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
They are offered in 10-week terms. After a term is completed, you can decide if you’d like to continue for another term.
Prior to joining a group, we will have a 50-minute assessment to determine if group work is the best course of action for you. The assessment and group sessions are billed at £60 per session.
